That’s the amount Greenwood School students aim to raise by the end of the week in their Pasta for Pennies campaign to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The school is especially motivated to reach the goal as a tribute to Denise Walker, the teacher who organized the drive in prior years and died of cancer last month. Here, the student council comprised of 5th and 6th graders gather outside the school with awards from prior drives. As of Monday $958 had been raised. Olive Garden treats the class that raises the most to a pasta lunch. School Principal Dennis Winn writes about Mrs. Walker in today’s letters to the editor.
