Bristol arrests: Robbery, sexual assault, harassment

The Bristol Police Department made the following arrests this week:

Kiefer H. McCaughley, 26, of 180 Bay View Ave., Apt. 1, Bristol, was charged with first degree robbery, assault with intent to commit robbery and disorderly conduct on Jan. 16.

Jeffrey S. Vaughn, 54, of 15 Gorham Place. Bristol, was charged by Portsmouth Police with two counts of writing fraudulent checks after a complaint from the Greenleaf Compassion Center, a medical marijuana dispensary on West Main Road in that town. On Dec. 28, 2016, the center told police that Mr. Vaughn had submitted checks in September for $359.20 and $227.27. The checks were returned for insufficient funds, however, with two $12 fees attached, police were told. Mr. Vaughn was issued a summons to appear in 2nd District Court on Jan. 26 to answer the charges.

Jonathan E. Rawson, 35, of 30 Davis St. Apt. E, Warren, was arrested on a warrant from the Warren Police Department for an unspecified alleged offense. Hew was taken into custody on Metacom Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Jan. 18.

Joao P. Gomes, 61, of 529 Metacom Ave., Apt. 1, Bristol, was charged with first degree sexual assault and two counts of simple assault Jan. 19.

Jason M. Pantig, 38, of 48 Belvedere Drive, Bristol, was charged at about 8:40 p.m. by Portsmouth Police with making harassing or threatening domestic phone calls. Police said a 40-year-old Portsmouth woman complained that Mr. Pantig had sent her harassing text messages despite repeated warnings to stop. A warrant for Mr. Pantig was issued and he was arrested by Bristol Police later that night and transferred to Portsmouth’s custody.

Andrew E. Stanzione, 29, of 1 Murphy Ave., Apt. 1, Bristol, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant Jan. 22.
