Building bridges

Nine Randall Holden students and their mentors from the U.S. Coast Guard Civil Engineering Unit based in Warwick spent yesterday morning building bridges out of Popsicle sticks and glue. Using blueprints, the mentors and their mentees built truss bridges that were later put to tests that took into account their weight and strength. The group also decorated and named their bridges. Hosting the event that included lunch was the Society of Military Engineers. Pam Sherman of the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership coordinated the event.
