Cranston police are stepping up impaired driving patrols this weekend.
According to a press release from Acting Chief of Police Capt. Kevin Barry, additional officers will be on duty from Friday through Sunday, working in conjunction with officers and troopers assigned to the Southern Rhode Island DUI Task Force. Cranston is one of 10 communities in which more than 35 task force personnel will be on patrol.
Barry in the release urges people to designate a sober driver, take a taxi or make plans to stay overnight if they plan on drinking. Drivers are reminded to dial 911 or *77 on their mobile phone to report dangerous drivers or hazardous road conditions.
