Huskies gymnasts beat Portsmouth, post undefeated regular season record

Mt. Hope Gymnasts beat Portsmouth and Prout during their meet on Wednesday, to post a 10-0 record in Division II and go undefeated during the regular season for the second year in a row.

The Huskies three outstanding sophomores Meghan Oliver, Jayme Foreman and Kaitlin Quinn led the team against their division rivals. Meghan Oliver placed first in vault (9.1), beam (9.2), floor (9.0) and all around score (35.1). Jayme Foreman placed first on bars (8.0) and second on vault (8.7) and floor (8.8). Kaitlin Quinn placed third on vault (8.6), third on beam (8.7) and second in all around (33.5).

Ashley Heald, Brianna Gendreau, Molly Thibaudeau, and Kaira Lawrence also contributed to the Mt. Hope’s team score of 131.0. Portsmouth scored 130.5 and Prout scored 104.8.

Five Huskies qualified for the Coach's State meet on the Sat. Feb 12 at the Newport YMCA and the Lady Huskies will defend their Division II crown at the RIIL State Gymnastics Championship meet on Sunday Feb 19, at 1 p.m. at RIC.
