Mt. Hope High School soccer star Michaela Goglia will take her talents beyond the high school level and will play Division 1 college soccer in the fall.

Goglia has signed her intent to play for Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY, the high school athletic department announced Wednesday night. Goglia signed her letter of intent alongside Mt. Hope soccer coach Kerri Ferreira and Athletic Director Christie Belisle.

"We are extremely proud of Michaela and the Huskies Soccer program,” Ms. Belisle said in a release. “She is focused and dedicated to her sport and her studies. We wish her the best of luck as a future Sea Wolf.”

Goglia intends to major in chemical engineering at Stony Brook, which is ranked among the top 100 universities in the country.

Captain Goglia helped lead the Huskies to a 14-2-4 record and a playoff birth in her senior season. The team advanced to the semi-finals, where the Huskies fell to a strong LaSalle team. Goglia led the Huskies offense throughout the season, recording her 100th career goal Nov. 4 against Smithfield. She became the first Mt. Hope athlete in the last 10 years to join the 100-point club.
