On the rocks

Authorities were aware but were not called to respond to this vessel that ended up on Barren Ledge off Highland Beach early Saturday morning. “There was no distress call and nobody seemed to be in trouble, so we didn’t bother them,” said Harbor Master Jeff Baris yesterday. Neither Warwick Fire nor the U.S. Coast Guard received calls. Baris said it appeared the boat was not damaged and that by high tide on Saturday it was gone. George Shuster, who was returning from Prudence Island early Saturday, thought boaters were fishing near the rocks until he got a closer look and this picture.
