One driver was taken to the hospital after three cars were badly damaged in a crash at Metacom Avenue and Tupelo Street Thursday morning.
The driver of a 1990 Ford Escort was complaining of pain and brought to Rhode Island Hospital with unspecified injuries after her car was t-boned in the intersection. The driver was headed south on Metacom Avenue around 10:30 a.m. when a Toyota Rav 4 headed west on Michael Drive struck the Escort in the front driver's side door, according to police reports.
The impact sent the Escort into the southbound lane where it hit a Ford Taurus that was stopped at the intersection before continuing over the curb and partly up the embankment leading to the former Bristol Toyota sales lot, where it came to a rest.
The Escort and Rav 4 were towed from the scene, while the Taurus, which had significant front-end damage, was able to drive away. Police have not yet determined the cause of the accident. It is under investigation by the Bristol Police Patrol Division.
