PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High boys’ varsity basketball team dropped a tough one Monday night, falling to East Greenwich in overtime, 64-58.

It was the third loss in a row for the Patriots, and their upcoming schedule won’t make things any easier on them as they play their next three games on the road.

Portsmouth lost one of their key rebounders when senior Zach Rahilly left the game in the second half with an ankle injury.

The top scorer for the Patriots was sophomore John Skrypiec, who netted 15 points. Matt Clark, a senior, added 14, junior James Reilly scored 10 and senior Shaun Abbate had nine.

On the bright side, the Patriots’ junior varsity team defeated their East Greenwich challengers, 48-45, earlier in the evening. Andrew Maiato scored 16 points, and his teammate John Stack added 13.
