A 70-year celebration

Last week, Garden City Center celebrated its 70th Year Anniversary with a special Taste of Garden City to raise funds for the Cranston Historical Society. In total, $3,000 was raised.

A total of 14 restaurants in the Center participated by offering free samples to those in attendance, which was approximately 250 people. Participating restaurants were: Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Applebee’s, Avvio, Bistro 22, Edible Arrangements, Newport Creamery, Pinkberry, L.L. Bean, Simple Greek, Starbucks, Sweenor’s, Tropical Smoothie, Whole Foods and Williams Sonoma.

In addition to old photos on display, there was a Living Miner Statue from Ten31 Productions and a documentary from when the Center was a coalmine through its development into the premiere shopping center it is today. The documentary was produced by Skyward Films.
