Bargain books

Warwick Beacon ·

The Friends of the Warwick Public Library had a busy weekend with their book sale that is expected to raise more than $8,000 when everything is counted up. All proceeds go to the library.

“The whole idea is to promote library programs…all the money goes back to the library,” said Friends board member Cheryl Cotter Sunday afternoon between handing out plastic bags to bargain hunters.

The plastic bags sold for $2 and could be filled with as many books as they could hold. Or, as many did, they could buy a fabric bag for $10 that could be filled multiple times. Cotter remarked on the generosity of so many from gifting books to the Friends that were later sold or to an individual who bought more than $200 of tickets to a raffle that was also part of the fundraising effort.
