The Barrington High School boys' soccer team defeated top-seeded LaSalle Academy, 1-0, in an overtime thriller on Wednesday night, Nov. 9, and will play in the Division I state finals on Saturday afternoon.

Alex Senich scored off a corner kick in the first of two 10-minute overtime periods and the Eagles held on for the playoff semifinal victory against the defending state champions.

Barrington, which entered the playoffs as a four-seed, will face Portsmouth in the state finals on Saturday at noon. The game will be played at Rhode Island College.

The Eagles won state championships in 2008, 2010 and 2012, but struggled through down seasons for the last two years. This year, Barrington finished the regular season with a 9-3-2 record in the division and a 10-3-2 mark overall.

Portsmouth, a three-seed in the playoffs, defeated Hendricken 1-0 in overtime in the other semifinal matchup on Wednesday night.
