Barrington girl's Instagram photos turn up on escort service website

Family asks police department to help remove pics from site

A Barrington resident stopped by the police station on Thursday, March 30, after she learned that photos of her 15-year-old daughter had been used by an escort service website.

Residents targeted for identity theft.

The woman said it appeared someone had hacked her daughter's Instagram account and taken the photos. The woman also said she contacted the escort company's website and asked that the photos be removed, but the company would not oblige.

Police officers told the girl that she needed to make her Instagram account private, which restricts access to "friends" only.

According to police, the victim's cousin informed the Barrington family of the situation.

Police are still working on the case.
