The Barrington Pop Warner Junior Pee Wees battled through a few set-backs on Sunday to defeat Fairhaven 19-6. The win moved Barrington's record to 3-1.

The Eagles, playing without their starting quarterback, turned to their defense to set the tone against the Blue Devils. Shea Parish, Owen Willard, Kurt Donecker, AJ DiOrio and Nate Reid pounded the Fairhaven ball carriers and forced the Blue Devils to punt.

Barrington then turned to Chucky Potter on offense. DiOrio pitched to Potter, who ran to his left, cut upfield and sprinted past the Fairhaven defenders. Willard and Charley Potter made key blocks on the run, and the offensive line of Kevin Robinson, Ryan Rigamonti, Nate Gravelle, Reid, Donecker, Aimon Bickford and Lyam Renaud pushed the Blue Devils defensive line off the ball. Barrington missed on its extra point.

The Eagles' defense continued to play well on the next series, as Finn White made two key tackles, aided by DiOrio, Donecker, Bickford and Renaud. Chucky Potter made a nice tackle on a fourth down play to stop the Fairhaven drive.

Barrington's "Beast offense" took the field in the second quarter and ripped open holes on the line of scrimmage. Sanders Toman, Jeff Caggiano, Jacob Raposa, Johnny Raposa and Kellan Johnson made key blocks for Chucky Potter, who blasted through the Fairhaven defense and ran 47 yards for his second touchdown of the day. The Eagles failed to convert their extra point try, but held a 12-0 lead.

Barrington's defense opened the second half and again stopped the Blue Devils shotgun-style offense. White and Parish broke up a pass play, DiOrio stopped a run attempt and Willard drilled an inside dive. Fairhaven punted and that's when Chucky Potter broke off his third touchdown of the day — a 53-yard return. Donecker had a crushing block during the return. DiOrio found the end zone on the extra point and Barrington led 19-0.

Charley Potter came alive for the Eagles defense on the next series, hammering the Blue Devils' running backs, while Donecker also had a nice stop.

Late in the third quarter, the Barrington defense pressured the Blue Devils' quarterback, who lofted a pass into the secondary. Chucky Potter settled under the ball, intercepted it and then broke to his left, looking for daylight. He found it and sprinted 72 yards for what appeared to be his fourth touchdown of the day. However, the referees called Barrington for an illegal block in the back, negating the run-back.

Fairhaven was able to sneak into the end zone late in the fourth quarter to make the final 19-6.

Barrington is scheduled to play against East Bay on Saturday at Barrington High School's Victory Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
