For the second time in less than a month and a half, Barrington rescue personnel came to the aid of a woman who was reportedly attempting to commit suicide at the town beach.

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, police and fire received a 911 call for an unresponsive person sitting inside a car parked at the town beach. Emergency personnel responded and located the woman — she was sitting inside the car but appeared to be slumped over in an awkward position.

Police officers opened the door and noticed that the woman was breathing. They also noticed blood inside the car and a knife on the floor of the vehicle. Police said it appeared the woman — a 52-year-old Barrington resident — had cut her leg near the femoral artery.

Rescue workers transported the woman to the hospital.

Police confirmed that the victim was the same individual who had reportedly tried to take her own life at the beach on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
