A Mathewson Lane resident in Barrington called police at about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, after she heard someone screaming for help.

A police officer responded to the area and saw the woman who placed the call waving her hands outside her house.

The officer spoke with the woman, and while doing so, began hearing calls for help. The officer searched the area and found a nearby resident who was laying inside a doorway, unable to get up.

The officer approached the man and called for a rescue, which later took the man to a hospital. The man had fallen down inside his home and dragged himself to a door, where he began yelling for help. The man told the officer that he believed he might have suffered a stroke.
