Barrington High School made it a "three-peat" at the URI Calculus Bowl on Wednesday, as the local students won their third straight title.

The team of Andrew Sheinberg, Conor McGartoll, Michael Lamontagne, Daniel Sheinberg and Jonny Zhang placed first at the contest, defeating teams from other Rhode Island high schools and a team from the Navy Prep Academy.

A second team of Barrington High School students — it included Ryan Brady, Ingrid Kenyon, Wanqing Li and Michael Chung — finished in fourth place at the competition.

Barrington High School held its own "Calculus Bowl" prior to the URI competition. The top ten finishers at the BHS Calculus Bowl qualified to compete in the URI contest.

The URI Calculus Bowl is described as a "lively playoff competition between teams where the questions are multiple-choice pre-calculus and calculus questions, designed to test the teams' math knowledge."

There were several rounds of play and a final playoff for first place.

More than $500 in prizes were awarded to the top teams.
