Bridge at Cherry Hill has more treats than tricks

Johnston Sun Rise ·

Aria “The Contortionist” Burns was all smiles. So was Jai Lynn “Belle” Sing, Xander “The Beast” Sing, Lilly “Cinderella” Wise and “Scooby Doo” Nolan the other night at The Bridge at Cherry Hill.

Likewise, kids like Boston Wood were dressed as a Werewolf and Owen Richards had on his best Scary Scarecrow outfit. Even children like Cruz “Liecco” Johnson, Zerek “The Clown” Johnson, Maddox “Hockey Killer” Johnson and Serenity “The Phantom” Johnson could have all won prizes for the best costume.

However, none of the costume-clad children who visited the well-appointed and award-winning assisted living and retirement center in Johnston last Friday night were there to compete for prizes.

For the second time in as many years, The Bridge at Cherry Hill, per Executive Director Maryann Grace and Marketing/Sales Director Jen Burns, held what people called a “fantastic, safe and extremely well-organized Trick or Treat Party.”

“We invited families from the community to trick or treat with our residents,” said Burns, who has initiated many creative and clever events in her tenure at The Bridge. “We asked parents to have their children dressed in their super hero, princess, spooky or funny costumes.”

Upon their arrival, each group of children, who were accompanied by moms, pops and even grandparents, were given a special list by a staffer at The Bridge as to just where they could find treats.

A total of 18 rooms that were located on all floors, as well as the Bistro that’s used for many functions in-house like the Johnston Lions Club’s annual college scholarship presentations, were included in the 2017 Halloween Happening.

“Our residents absolutely love doing this,” Burns went on. “They all enjoy seeing the children dressed in their costumes; and our staff members love it as well.”

In true vintage style that is a trademark at any and all events at The Bridge, Grave and Burns went the extra mile and offered special Halloween cookies and cider for their favorite trick or treaters.
