Bristol Police: Armed robbery, noisy neighbors, and more

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between Dec. 5 and Dec. 13:

Monday, Dec. 5

Police issued a summons to a driver who had a small child in the passenger seat while driving on Metacom Avenue near the Warren line around 7:30 a.m.

A couch was left on the side of the road on River Street. The owner said she is making arrangements with the Department of Public Works to have the couch removed.

Police assisted with a car accident on Alan Drive. A car hit a telephone pole. National Grid responded.

Officers helped remove an unwanted man from a home on Smith Street.

Tuesday, Dec. 6

Animal control officers responded to loose dog reports on Gorham Place, Michael Drive and Bradford Street.

Wednesday, Dec. 7

Officers responded to a car accident at Metacom and Sherman avenues at 7:30 a.m.. One driver complained of back pain but refused medical treatment.

A caller reported seeing a man wearing a work vest climb over the side of the Mt. Hope Bridge just before 5 p.m. Police investigated, finding no issues. The man was working on the bridge.

Police helped break up a fight at Narrows Point at 6:30 p.m. There was no arrest reported. 

A man was reportedly robbed at knifepoint at a convenience store on Hope Street just before 10 p.m. The suspect is described as a white man, standing about 5’9”, wearing a black hoodie and gray sweat pants. Police are investigating.

Thursday, Dec. 8

A resident on Tobin Lane called to report a suspicious person in his house at 6:30 a.m. The person turned out to be a caretaker who was allowed in the home.

A syringe was found in a parking lot on Metacom Avenue at 9:30 a.m.

A man was reportedly seen grabbing packages off the porch of a home on Hope Street at 11:30 a.m., then fleeing south on Hope Street. Police investigated, learning the packages were not stolen. The man was the father of the resident.

A package was actually stolen from a home on San Jose Drive. Police are investigating.

Friday, Dec. 9

A resident on Hope Street called police to complain she can hear her neighbors through the wall of her apartment around 2:30 a.m. There was no violation. Police advised the woman to contact maintenance in the morning.

Two boats were reportedly docked at Bristol Harbor Inn without permission. Police left messages for the owners to move the boats.

Police removed a disorderly person from the Cup Defenders Association on Wood Street just after 5 p.m.

A caller reported two dogs left inside a car at Thames and Church streets around 7 p.m. It is illegal to leave a dog in a hot car without water and ventilation, but the incident occurred on Dec. 9.

Saturday, Dec. 10

Both license plates were reportedly stolen off a car on Bay View Avenue. Reports came in at 11:30 a.m.

Two people riding in a black Hyundai at 1 p.m. were reportedly driving up and down Terrace Drive, randomly pulling into driveways on the street and turning around. The car was gone when police arrived.

A car drove into a rock wall at Hope and Tupelo streets just before midnight. The driver declined medical treatment and was transported to the Warren town line.

Sunday, Dec. 11

A resident on Roosevelt Drive called police because leaves had been dumped on the property. Officers filed a report.

A juvenile was arrested on State Street and charged with larceny under $1,500.
