Bristol Police: Child molestation, DUI, domestic assault

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6:

Monday, Oct. 31

Bristol Police assisted with a distress call in Mount Hope Bay. A 19-foot fishing boat with three people on board was taking on water just after 10 a.m. Portsmouth rescue personnel towed the boat to shore. There were no reports of injuries.

Police responded to a fire pn Opechee Drive at 2 p.m. The fire was in the oven of a home, and there were no reported injuries.

A car reportedly drove over a lawn on Platt Street at 8:30 p.m. Police checked the area but could not find the car.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

A deer was killed at Metacom and Kickemuit avenues. The state Department of Environmental Management was notified.

Two juveniles were reportedly throwing rocks at a wild chicken on Hope Street at 4 p.m. They were gone when police arrived.

A caller reported a man was sleeping at a table at Dunkin Donuts on Gooding Avenue at 5 p.m. There was no problem requiring police action.

Officers responded to reports of threats being made against a person on Second Street just before 8 p.m. It turned out to be no problem; just a juvenile playing a prank on a friend via text messaging.

A car was vandalized at State and Thames streets around 10 p.m. Police filed a report.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

A resident on Narrows Road called police to report an unknown man was walking down the street at 2:30 p.m. He was gone when officers arrived.

Political signs were reportedly stolen from a yard on Metacom Avenue. There was no word which candidates or party the signs were advertising.

Police dispersed 12 juveniles who were reportedly loitering at Hope and State streets around 8:30 p.m. An anonymous resident had called police to report the group’s presence.

Dennis Afonso, 38, of 18 Deer Run Road, Bristol, was charged with domestic vandalism and domestic disorderly conduct after police were called to the area just before 9 p.m.

Renee A. Palardy, 54, of 117 Dewolf Ave., Apt. 1, Bristol, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant.

Thursday, Nov. 3

Darryl P. Larrivee, 28, of 16 Sachem St., Warren, was charged with second degree child molestation.

A resident on High Street called to report an unknown person tried to break into her home around 4 p.m. Police are investigating.

Officers assisted with an apparently intoxicated man lying on the ground on State Street at 5:30 p.m.

Alexander Rebelo, 30, of 311 State St. Apt. 2, Bristol, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in court on original charges of larceny and driving with a suspended license. He was taken into custody on State Street just after 7 p.m.

Police were called for complaints of loud parties at 7:30 p.m. on Sousa Street, the site of frequent unfounded complaints against neighbors.

Friday, Nov. 4

A 911 call came in from the Roger Williams University book store at 3 a.m. Officers contacted RWU Public Safety and inspected the store, finding it secure.

A caller reported four men were tampering with the front gate at North Farm, at Hope Street and North Farm Drive at 11:30 a.m. Police found no problems upon arrival.

A resident on Bay View Avenue reported a suspicious car was parked in front of her house at noon. There was no problem. The driver had pulled over to use her cell phone.

A pedestrian at King Philip Avenue and Leahy Drive flagged down an officer to warn him of a suspicious car in the area just after noon. There was no problem; the driver was working in the area.

Police responded to a neighbor dispute on Brookwood Road at 2 p.m. A resident reported his neighbor buried water and power lines two inches on his property. Officers filed a report.

A driver called to report being involved in a road rage incident with another driver from the Mt. Hope Bridge all the way to the Stop & Shop on Metacom Avenue, where the pother car had stopped. Officers could not find the driver when they arrived.

A man was reportedly video recording traffic on Mt. Hope Bridge at 10:30 p.m. The report was unfounded.

Police helped break up a fight involving a large group of people on Bay View Avenue just before 11 p.m. There was no arrest reported.

Saturday, Nov. 5

Matthew S. Galano, 30, of Franklin St., Bristol, was charged with domestic assault after police were called to the area for reports of a man and woman arguing just before 5 a.m.

Officers were twice called to Massasoit Avenue for reports of loud music behind an apartment building, first at 6:30 a.m. and again just before 7 a.m. The reports were unfounded.

Police assisted with a car accident at Hope Street and Colonial Road at 2 p.m. Two people was brought to Rhode Island Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Officers responded to Almeida Court Apartments for reports of a larceny from the RWU residence hall. Police are investigating.

“Suspicious kids” were reportedly playing on Berry Lane at 5 p.m., according to a caller. They were gone when officers arrived.

Police and rescue personnel responded to reports of an apparently intoxicated man on the ground behind Purity Laundry on Metacom Avenue at 8 p.m. He was brought to Newport Hospital.

Megan E. Mooney, 18, of 170 Orchard Hill Road, Haverhill, Mass., was charged with underage possession of alcohol at a liquor store on Hope Street.

Sunday, Nov. 6

Bryan Michael Vollaro, 37, of 16 Roma St., third floor, Bristol, was arrested on 2nd District Court and 3rd District Court bench warrants for failure to appear in court on two previous charges of driving without a license.

Christopher Valverde, 34, of 65 Holmes Road, North Attleborough, Mass., was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test after he was pulled over for allegedly speeding at Hope and Chestnut streets at 10:30 p.m.
