Bristol Police: DUI, domestic assault, turtle in the basement

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between Sept. 26 and Oct. 2:

Monday, Sept. 26

Officers assisted school personnel with a fight at Mt. Hope High School at 10 a.m. There was no arrest made.

Police, at the state Department of Environmental Management’s request, euthanized a deer that had been hit by a car on Gooding Avenue just before 11 a.m. 

A woman who called police for help at 1 p.m. at Constitution and High streets was reportedly looking for a ride home. Officers requested a rescue for an evaluation.

A resident on River Street called police around 8 p.m. because a man was knocking on doors in the neighborhood. Officers investigating, finding the man was doing nothing wrong.

John Connor Fallon, 19, of 465R Jerusalem Road, Cohasset, Mass., was charged with driving under the influence, .10-.15 on Metacom Avenue just before midnight.

Tuesday, Sept. 27

A receptionist from a Bristol doctor’s office reported that an employee of a livery service was acting disorderly just before 2 p.m. Officers filed a report but made no arrest.

Mail was reportedly stolen from a home on Gooding Avenue.

Police responded to reports of a woman screaming on Court Street around 8 p.m. She was reportedly involved with a verbal argument with another woman. No charges were filed.

Police responded to noise complaints coming from behind a bar on Wood Street. There was no violation.

Wednesday, Sept. 28

A car hit a tree at Metacom Avenue and Sowams Drive just after midnight. The driver declined medical treatment.

A gin pole (sailboat mast) was reportedly stolen from a home on Bay Street. Police are investigating.

A boat was spotted overturned in the water near the Mt. Hope Bridge just after 3 p.m. Police, Fire, DEM and the Harbormaster’s Officer responded, but no boat or victims were found.

A man and woman were reportedly arguing in the road at State and Center streets around 6:30 p.m. Police checked but found no disturbance.

A neighbor of the Almeida Court Apartments — which serve as dormitories for Roger Williams University — complained of “students screaming and yelling and disturbing the peace.” The report was unfounded.

Thursday, Sept. 29

Police responded to a “complaint regarding felines” on Congregational Street around 11:30 a.m. There was no police action required.

A woman was reportedly showing a badge and attempting to enter a home on Sherman Avenue just before 3 p.m. Police found she is a federal background check investigator conducting an investigation for employment. Police confirmed her credentials.

Friday, Sept. 30

A resident called police after driving by a group of people carrying traffic cones on Bay View Avenue at 1 a.m. Police responded; the cones were returned.

Jessica J. Blinkhorn, 35, of 30 Fatima Drive, Bristol, was arrested on Bay View Avenue at 1:18 a.m. on a 6th District Court bench warrant for failure to appear in court on a previous charge.

A wayward goat was reportedly wandering onto residents’ front lawns on Anchorage Court at 8:30 a.m. The goat was returned home.

Reports of loud music playing on Sousa Street at 10:30 p.m. were unfounded.

Saturday, Oct. 1

A caller told police a car was driving very slow at Metacom and Gooding avenues at 12:30 a.m. Officers found the car parked in the driveway of a nearby home.

Police dispersed a man who was reportedly trying to hitch-hike at Wood Street and Bay View Avenue at 2 p.m.

A boat was reportedly vandalized at the Church St. Dock on Thames Street.

A man was reportedly knocking on the windows of a home on Verndale Circle at 11:30 p.m. Police did not arrest the man but saw him to the bus stop at Hope and Fales.

Sunday, Oct. 2

A large turtle was reportedly found in a kiddie pool in the basement of a home on Wood Street. Police filed a report.

Police were called at noon for another nuisance complaint on Sousa Street, the site of frequent neighbor disputes and unfounded noise complaints. No police action was required.

A man with long hair wearing a black jacket was reportedly yelling while walking down Wood Street and Bay View Avenue at 8 p.m. He was gone when officers arrived.

Brin Finn, 26, of 7 Russell Ave., Newport, was charged with domestic assault.

Thomas M. Conley, 55, of 47 Aarom Ave., Bristol, was charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was stopped at Hope Street and Hillside Road just before 10 p.m.
