Bristol Police: Pot smokers, noise complaints, bed begs, and more

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between March 6 and March 12:

Monday, March 6

A light post on private property was reportedly damaged by a plow during a previous storm. The plow company was taking care of the damage.

Tuesday, March 7

Police helped a resident on Wood Street get into her apartment at 1:40 a.m. after she had reportedly been locked out for several hours.

A caller reported seeing a sick raccoon in the area of High Street around 10:30 a.m. Animal control officers found the animal to be healthy and reported it “returned to the chimney it came from.”

Police responded to reports of narcotics at Mt. Hope High School around 11 a.m. There was no arrest reported.

A caller reported a strange humming noise in the area of High and Washington streets. Officers found the noise was coming from a streetlight.

Wednesday, March 8

A resident on Metacom Avenue called police after a furniture company reportedly delivered a couch infested with bed bugs. Officers advised the resident to contact the furniture company to have the couch removed.

An oil truck was reportedly leaking oil onto Metacom Avenue while heading northbound around 11 a.m. Officers caught up with the truck at the Benny’s on Metacom. Tiverton Auto was called to the scene.

A car ran into a pole at Hope Street and Elm Farm Drive just after 1:30 p.m. The driver was brought to Newport Hospital with unknown injuries. National Grid responded to inspect the police.

A resident at Benjamin Church Manor called police just before 3 p.m. to report two men were smoking marijuana between a building and the nearby cemetery. They were gone when officers arrived.

Police responded to noise complaints on Easterbrooks Avenue at 10:30 p.m., and on Narrows Road just after 11 p.m. In both cases, the complaints were unfounded.

Thursday, March 9

A group of juveniles was reportedly smoking behind a building at Benjamin Church Manor just before 8 a.m.

A driver reportedly lost a piece of furniture on the Mt. Hope Bridge around 4:30 p.m. Police helped the driver retrieve the furniture.

Friday, March 10

A resident on Sousa Street reported loud noise coming from a truck on the street just before 5 p.m. The same resident called back a minute later to cancel the call when the truck left.

Sunday, March 12

Police assisted a woman who was lost on her way to East Providence. She said she is unfamiliar with the area after having been dropped off.

A couple hours later, Mr. Gray was arrested again, charged with violating a no-contact order at 1:30 p.m.
