Bristol Police: Rowdy neighbors, 'physical argument, gazebo fire-starter

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between Nov. 7 and Nov. 13:

Monday, Nov. 7

A handicap placard and GPS device was stolen from a car on Wood Street. The report was filed at 11:30 a.m.

Police responded to a fight between the first-floor and third-floor tenants of a house on Siegel Street at 11:40 a.m. There was no arrest made.

A juvenile was arrested at Mt. Hope High School at 1:30 p.m. for disorderly conduct - disturbance of public assemblies.

Police again were called to Siegel Street for a tenant dispute, this time just before 2 p.m.. Officers filed a report but made no arrest.

Police assisted with an accident on the Mt. Hope Bridge just before 3 p.m. There were no significant injuries reported.

Tuesday, Nov. 8

A man and woman were reportedly arguing on the tennis courts on Town Common. The man was gone when officers arrived. There was no further police action required.

A resident on Union Street called police at 3 p.m. because a neighbor was reportedly blowing leaves into the caller’s yard. Officers spoke with the neighbor, resolving the dispute.

A resident on Tower Street called police to complain that a silver Toyota had parked on the street just before 9 p.m. There was nothing suspicious; the driver had pulled over to use her cell phone.

Wednesday, Nov. 9

A resident on Sousa Street complained of loud music on the road just after midnight. Police investigated, finding no noise above the approved level in a Bristol neighborhood. Police are frequently called to Sousa Street for unfounded complaints against neighbors.

A resident on Ursula Drive reported a “suspicious vehicle” was parked on the road at 1:30 a.m. Police found the car was legally parked, and there was no issue.

A bicycle was reportedly stolen from Mt. Hope High School.

A wallet was reportedly stolen from a home on Franklin Street.

Another bicycle was reportedly stolen, this time form the front of a RIPTA bus on Hope Street. The caller was in Portsmouth when he called police.

Thursday, Nov. 10

A woman walking a dog on the baseball field at Veterans Park on Wood Street reportedly refused to leave when she was asked. Police responded, but the woman had left before they arrived. It is common to ban pets from sports fields so they are clean for athletes to use.

Unspecified items were reportedly stolen from the Stop & Shop on Metacom Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Police are investigating.

Friday, Nov. 11

Police also responded to a suspicious person complaint at Town Beach just before 7 p.m., a brush fire at Adelaide and Hope streets just after 7 p.m., and a suspicious person complaint on Narrows Road. There were no arrests made.

Saturday, Nov. 12

A caller reported someone was yelling for help on Town Common at 1:30 a.m. Police checked the area, finding nothing.

A rabbit somehow got into a home on Karen Ann Drive just before 4 p.m. Animal control helped remove the animal.

Officers responded to complaints of loud music from house parties on Viking Drive at 11:30 p.m. and on Anthony Avenue a few minutes later. Reports were filed, but no arrests or citations were reported.

Sunday, Nov. 13

Officers responded to a call from Church Street to help remove an unwanted person. The man left before police arrived.

A resident on Carr Lane reported a driver was playing loud music and repeatedly honking the horn at 1:30 a.m. Officers investigated, finding the car unoccupied. They later called emergency personnel for assistance with an intoxicated man.

Police responded to a domestic dispute on Siegel Street just before 10 a.m. A woman reported being in a “physical argument” with her boyfriend. Police brought the woman to police headquarters to make a statement. Officers filed a report but no arrest was reported.

A juvenile was reportedly attempting to set leaves on fire inside the gazebo on Town Common.

A man wearing plaid pajama pants and a black sweatshirt was reportedly walking back and forth on Thompson Avenue, trying to break into a car. Police made no arrest but called rescue personnel to treat the man for unspecified ailments.
