The end is near for the large aluminum and cinderblock warehouse building on the old American Tourister site in north Warren.

A realtor marketing units within the site for Tourister Mill LLC/Brady Sullivan said company officials plan to raze the old structure starting as early as Tuesday, Aug. 1.

“The wrecking ball is coming,” said Michael Guittari, owner of the MG Commercial real estate firm.

The 98,160-square-foot warehouse dominates the waterfront along the lower half of the so-called Tourister property. It is scheduled to come down during Phase II of the company’s two-phase renovation process, which in the end will result in 290 apartments and 100 commercial spaces. The first phase, currently underway, includes renovating the main mill building and building a roof-top addition on the old mill. A new building will be built on the site of the old warehouse, Mr. Guittari said.

Since workers broke ground last year, progress on the multi-million dollar project has been moving steadily along. Mr. Guittari said many of the apartments in the property’s north end are near completion, and company officials plan to rent and occupy them from north to south.

The warehouse building currently houses the Pure Haven Essentials; that business will be relocated.
