Colorful curtain closes summer

Warwick Beacon ·

It’s been a crazy summer – weather wise, that is – for farmers as John “Pete” Morris of Morris Farms knows only too well. The first part of the summer was hot and dry and now there is one deluge after another.

Morris says the unpredictability of the weather is all part of being a farmer. He doesn’t complain.

As the farm has done for years, they will be offering hay rides out to the pumpkin patch starting this week. They will also be doing school tours where the kids get to hear what goes into farming, see the animals and then take a pumpkin home.

Apart from pumpkins, a major seller at this time of year are the mums grown at the farm. As Morris notes, it won’t be all that long before it’s back to Christmas trees and wreaths.
