Driver charged with DWI after car flips over in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth Police reports from over the past week.

Friday, Oct. 14

Daniel H. Desilets, 38, of 1 Channing St., Newport, was charged at 2:25 a.m. with driving while intoxicated. Mr. Desilets’ vehicle was pulled over on West Main Road near Mail Coach Road because it was being operated erratically, according to police.

Saturday, Oct. 15

Alex J. Landry, 24, of 46 South Ave., Tiverton, was charged at 12:40 a.m. with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a chemical test after the vehicle he was driving flipped over on Park Avenue near Landry Street. Mr. Landry said he had hit a trailer that was parked on the side of the road, according to police. Mr. Landry was not injured and removed himself from the vehicle before police arrived.

Lareen M. Abdallah, 20, of 2121 West Main Road, Apt. 501, was charged with obstructing an officer in the execution of duty after she turned herself into police shortly before 5:30 p.m. after a warrant had been issued for her arrest. The charge stems from an incident first reported on Aug. 11, when the manager of Bay View Estates told police a large gazebo had been knocked over by an unknown vehicle sometime overnight. Police said they determined that Ms. Abdallah was in a Jeep Cherokee that struck the gazebo, but she told police she was at a hospital with two family members at the time. She also said the damage to the front and rear bumpers of the Jeep was there before the vehicle was purchased, according to police.

Richard M. Seale, 35, of 2721 East Main Road, was charged at 7:15 p.m. on a bench warrant issued from 2nd District Court. Two officers with knowledge of the warrant made the arrest at Mr. Seale’s home

Sunday, Oct. 16

Christina R. Duclos, 36, of 34 Bramans Lane, was charged shortly before 2 a.m. with driving while intoxicated (first offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police were dispatched to the area of Bristol Ferry Road and Brownell Lane for a report of a possible motor vehicle accident when an officer spotted a vehicle with two flat tires passing his location. The vehicle pulled into the CVS parking lot and the driver was identified as Ms. Duclos, She told police she had been coming home from work in Warren, but she was not involved in an accident and didn’t know how she got two flat tires, according to police. During an inventory search of the vehicle, police said they found an unsealed bottle of whiskey between the front and rear seats. 

Jason E. Gaudette, of 36, of 14 Sloop Drive, was charged at 2:37 a.m. with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police said they stopped Mr. Gaudette on West Main Road near Freeborn Street after observing the vehicle leave the lane of travel.

Monday, Oct. 17

Douglas J. Swartz, 50, 9 North Drive, was picked up at his home around 5:25 a.m. on a bench warrant issued by 2nd District Court.
