Emily Fortin, 91, Bristol

Mrs. Emily (Nappi) Fortin, 91, of Tilbury Drive, Bristol, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in St. Elizabeth’s Manor, Bristol. She was the wife of the late Louis Fortin, her husband of 62 years who preceded her in death in 2008. 

Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Bettina (Montoro) Nappi. A graduate of Colt Memorial High School, class of 1942, Emily worked for a number of years as a nursing attendant for the RI Veterans Home in Bristol, retiring in 1987. She previously worked at the former Bristol Manufacturing Company and Converse Rubber Company, both formerly in Bristol. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol. 

She is survived by three children, Betty C. Lema (Jerry), Louis Fortin, Jr. (Connie) and Jeanne Van Vleck (Michael), all of Bristol; two grandsons, Gerald Dallaire Jr., of Santa Clarita, Calif., and Lance Dallaire (Juliana) of Bristol; four great grandchildren, Emma, Molly, Sebastian and Santiago Dallaire; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Frank and Theresa Nappi, Annie Sousa, Louis, Nicholas and Joseph Nappi, Theresa Poissant, John Nappi, Louise Rabideau, Caroline Pellerin and Mary Sanchas.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Saturday, April 22, at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Friday, April 21, 4-7 p.m.
