Former Viola’s owners express gratitude after 32 years

To the editor,

We are most appreciative to have been in business at Viola’s Liquor Store for these last 32 years. It has been a pleasure serving the public and interacting with our many loyal customers on a regular basis. It’s been a long, wonderful road we’ve traveled.

We thank our town and state officials for all their support, as well as the Bristol Police Department, Bristol Fire Department and Bristol Department of Public Works. They’ve all been tremendous.

Having taken over the business in 1985, it was a dream come true for the Moitoso family. We worked diligently together as a team, putting in long hours each day while making many new friends, including a number of Roger Williams University grad students and their parents. It was a wonderful time in our lives; something we will always remember and cherish.

Being retired is something that we’ll have to get used to, but already we’re enjoying the extra time we now have for ourselves, our two sons, our daughter-in-law and our three grandchildren. We’ll also be able to concentrate more on taking part in two of our favorite pastimes: attending New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox games.

We’re also happy that new Viola’s Liquor Store owner Michael Brito will continue the tradition of serving the general public in the same cordial way we did these past 32 years. We wish the Brito family all the success in the world. We’re happyy the way this transition turned out. We know the business is in good hands.
