Veteran, family man had diverse interests

George H. Trombley Sr., 86, of Warren, died Friday at the Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren.

He was the husband of Eleanor R. ( Newton) Trombley .

George was born in Warren, a son of the late Adelard and Florida (Lemieux) Trombley.

He was a grocery manager for the former IGA, First national Grocery Stores, for many years before retiring.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Corporal during the Korean War.

A Warren resident all of his life, he was a parishioner of the former St. Jean the Baptiste Church. He enjoyed painting and reading books, bowling, camping, and he was also a Boy Scout leader.

He loved riding his Goldwing motorcycle.

Mr. Trombley was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, George H. Trombley Jr. of Warren, Bruce Trombley of Pawtucket, David Trombley of Riverside, Michele Tarantelli of Warren, Lisa Hinkson of Deerfield, N.H., and Carol Trombley of Warren.

He was the brother of Vivian Lombardi of Warren.

George was the grandfather of 11, the great-grandfather of 10, and the great-great-grandfather of one.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of his grand dogs Zuzu, Charlie, Baxter, Zoe, Sparky, Kasha and Dixie.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 546 Main St., Warren. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Vernon St., Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
