Georgianna Tavares, 92, Bristol

Georgianna (Soares) Tavares, 92, passed away on Jan. 18 at St. Elizabeth Manor. She was the wife of the late James Tavares. 

Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Evangelina (Raposa) Soares. She was the mother of James Tavares Jr. of Bristol and Eileen Tavares of Bristol; grandmother of Michael Tavares, Jennifer O’Flaherty and Jonathan Tavares; and great grandmother of Cole Tavares, Jake Tavares and Ethan O’Flaherty. She was the sister of the late of Manuel R. Soares,

John R. Soares, Joseph Soares, Alfred Soares, Mary Gomes, Mary S. Andrade, Ruth Vieira and Evangelina Soares.
Mrs. Tavares attended Bristol Schools and was a homemaker.
Her funeral services were held Jan. 25 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard Narciso at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Jennifer O’Flaherty and Vanessa Tavares. The offertory gifts were presented by James Tavares and Eileen Tavares. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Tavares, Jonathan Tavares, Tim O’Flaherty, Whitney Butler, Frank Perry and James Perry.
