Gerald Anthony Mederos, 57, Bristol

Gerald Anthony Mederos, 57, of Wood Street, passed away on July 13, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Maureen (Orokos) Mederos.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Louise (Cunard) Mederos. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his children, Jason Davenport and his wife Jennifer, Justin Davenport and his wife Holly, Shannon Medeiros and her husband James, Andrew Davenport and his wife Sunshine Beaulieu, and Brittany Mederos and her fiancé Joe Spina; and grandchildren Kaylee Davenport, Jason Davenport, Nathan Davenport, Kendra Mederos, Ethan Mederos and Kylie Davenport. He was the brother of Anthony Mederos and his wife Diane, and Eileen Mederos; and was the nephew of Viola Palumbo and her husband Angelo, Patricia Barone and her husband Frank, Nancy Cunard, Theresa Nobriga and the late Delores Oliver and Manuel Cunard. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Joan Orokos, and niece Tracie Mederos.

Mr. Mederos attended school in Bristol and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of numerous Drum & Bugle Corps, including the RI Picadors, RI Matadors, The Generations Alumni Corps, Florida Brass and Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni Corps. He was also a member of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, Bristol Fire Department’s Dreadnaught Hook & Ladder Hose Company, Bristol Fire Police, Bristol Democratic Town Committee and Bristol County Elks Lodge 1860.

He loved cheering on the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins. He was an amazing cook who loved celebrating the Fourth of July in Bristol and spending time with his grandchildren.

His funeral services were held July 18 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Barry Gamache at St. Mary’s Church. Liturgical reading were by Melissa Lavey and Bernadette Laureanno. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Holly Davenport. The offertory gifts were presented by Shannon Medeiros, Brittany Mederos and Tracie Mederos. The eulogy was given by Diane Mederos.

Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Alan Palumbo, Rick Palumbo, Brian Dupuis, Paul Oliver, James Medeiros and Victor Goglia.
