Getting old doesn`t change a thing for senior center 'stars'

Growing up shouldn’t mean you have to stop what you’re doing. And at the Pilgrim Senior Center, they sure do follow that.

The Pilgrim Theatre Stars came together to write and perform their own funny, enthusiastic play last Friday. They named the script, “Subpoena to Appear in Court,” and performed on Friday.

Many of them have been with the “Theatre Stars” since the beginning, and others only a couple years, but that has not made a difference in how well they all work together on stage. The whole cast is there to continue the joy it brings their audience, and themselves.

With help from Pilgrim High School, the show went on featuring a playbill with headshots of the cast.

“A special thanks to Susan Root’s photography class at Pilgrim High School for the edited poster and professional headshots,” the Pilgrim Senior Center wrote in the playbill.

But performances weren’t left only to the cast. The audience

The crowd was so pleased and happy to watch the show. The audience sang “Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall, ninety- nine bottles of beer. Take one down pass it around ninety-eight bottles of beer on the wall.”

Seemingly, the cast enjoyed themselves just as much as the audience, laughing their way through the script.

Gail Felix, Judge Julie in the performance, said “I enjoyed the chance to enter the realm of make believe and comedy to make people laugh.”

“It has been a challenging and truly fun experience to be part of this wonderful group,” said Maryann Famiano, an original member of the stars.

In case 1812, there was a hat shop for men who are balding. The business was booming until a hair transplant business moves next door.

“Hair today, gone tomorrow,” said Kathy Eastman.

Harry Fogell, playing the new vendor, had a full brown haired wig on, with a cowboy looking brown hat. The two ladies could see right through his tricks, and ripped his wig off, and his mouth dropped in despair.

In the end of the case the three agree to join forces and come up with a new store, “One Stop to Cover Your Top.”

The cast was made up of Mike Blake, Dolores D’Agostino, Kathy Eastman, Maryann Faminao, Gail Felix, Harry Fogell, Gerald Gaudreau, George Jones, Kathleen (aka) Toni Mancini, JR Morga, Liz Rogers and Giulia Sheridan.
