The Cranston Herald ·

The Cranston Public Library held its “History is Alive: A Haunted History Tour” of the Oak Lawn Branch on Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Guests explored the long history of the building, from its early days as the Oak Lawn School (1838) through to its transition into a library in 1896.

Stefanie Blankenship, branch librarian and a historian, provided an introduction and history of the library and related how disembodied voices, flickering lights, falling books, and more have been experienced by both library visitors and staff.

A PowerPoint presentation was provided by Ocean State Paranormal and the Paranormal Legend Society.

The Oak Lawn Branch is located at 230 Wilbur Ave. in Cranston. (Herald photos by Steve Popiel)
