While it has taken months to drive piles and build the foundation from which the new Edgewood Yacht Club will rise, the work appears to be following the architect’s drawing as planned. It is hoped the work from this point will speed up with the clubhouse being completed before the New Year. The clubhouse will replace the Victorian structure that survived some of the worst hurricanes to hit Rhode Island, but was victim to a winter snow and electrical storm that turned it to ashes. Funding for its reconstruction have come from the insurance carried by EYC, fund raising and Brown University that will use a floor for its sailing program. The cost of the project is being put at approximately $4 million. (Cranston Herald photo by John Howell)
