JHS Holly Fair to offer boughs of cheer

Johnston Sun Rise ·

Bigger and better!

That could be the theme of Saturday’s Johnston High School PTSO’s 7th Annual Holly Fair that will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the cafeteria on Cherry Hill.

“This year is going to be even bigger than last year,” said Lori Agnew, who is chairing the ambitious annual event with Melissa Patrone. “We will have over 45 vendors; there’s so many they will set up their displays in the cafeteria as well as the corridors.”

By the time doors open Saturday, the number of vendors will probably increase.

“We’ve been contacted by several area vendors who have expressed interest in coming to the Holly Fair,” Agnew said. “Our motto is it’s never too late for any vendor; we welcome them to come and be part of an important event.”

While Agnew announced the Holly Fair will return to the JHS cafeteria and beyond, she said there will be some “old vendors” and “some new faces, too.”

Moreover, people who are closely connected with either the JHS community or PTSO (Parent-Teacher-Student Organization) have already said “this year is already promising to be exciting in regards to vendors; the students at the high school have been in full planning gear and are extremely excited about being part of the Holly Fair.”

The 7th Annual Holly Fair, Agnew also announced, “will have many new vendors with local products that people will find quite impressive, especially if anyone is looking for holiday decorations and event gifts.”

Patrone, meanwhile, suggested that “if a person needs a gift for a teacher, co-worker, the mailman or even a family member or relative, chances are you’ll find the perfect one by shopping at the Holly Fair.”

Those who have attended the Holly Fair, especially either last year or the previous year, should be aware that there’s everything from homemade items ranging from candy to specialty signs as well as a large variety of holiday decorations.

“In the past we’ve had people who offer nautical themes and decorations,” Agnew said. “It’s really amazing on just how many different vendors have been to the Holly Fair.”

While Agnew and Patrone, who have received valuable help from Deb McHale, Tammy Messier and Kim Stubbs, boasted about the interesting vendors who’ll set up shop Saturday, they also announced that “our favorite friend from the North Pole is expect to make a visit here.”

“Yes indeed, Santa Claus, as well as a few of his friends, will be making a special stop again this year at the Holly Fair,” said Agnew. “It’s always great that Jolly Old Saint Nick comes here to help us.”

So, the 7th Annual JHS PTSO promises to be bigger and better than ever and will be open to the general public for seven hours this Saturday in Johnston. Those who’d like more information or vendor space should call Patrone at 595-1097, Agnew at 965-63321 or McHale at 952-4607.
