Johnston girls' soccer squad scores win on Senior Night

Johnston Sun Rise ·

On Tuesday, Oct. 18 there was an important game for the undefeated Johnston Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers were matched up against East Providence who had been also undefeated this season.

This game was a back and forth battle, but at the end Lady Panthers were able prevail and beat The Townies with a score of 5-2. In addition to the significance of this game, it was the Lady Panthers Senior Night. At halftime, the seniors were honored by coach Timothy Sprouls and the team. This year’s seniors are Samantha Hardman, Lindsey Frein, and Sophia Rengigas.

Along with being a captain, Samantha Hardman was a key defender and part of the team. Lindsey Frein, senior captain, continues her role as a center defenseman helping to control the middle of the field.

Hardman and Frein, who have been on the team for four years, continue to improve and add more skill to the team. They’re both role models and together have led the team to an undefeated season. Sophia Rengigas, senior, was a great addition to the team this year. Although it was her first year she put in lots of work and showed great determination.

As our season extends into playoffs, we will look to the seniors to lead us to the championship.
