Letter: Big price tag for school start time change

To the editor:

I have had a lot of people ask me who they should vote for if they are against the proposed school start time change.

They are concerned about the fact:

• that it will be a minimum of $500,000 every year from now on if this goes through - this is on top of the middle school bond - so our taxes are going to go through the roof

• that there will only be minimum after school help

• that parents have to pay thousands per year in daycare themselves 

• that sports programs will be changed dramatically - some practicing as late as 9-10:30 pm! (So much for more sleep.)

• the fact that kids will simply go to bed later if they can sleep later
