To the editor:
I feel compelled to write-in to express a different set of experiences I have had with our Town Manager, Jan Reitsma, than recently have been reflected in the Warren Times. Nine months ago, I founded Volunteer Warren.  In that capacity I have been privileged to interface very frequently with town management and various departments.
I have found Mr. Reitsma to be accessible and supportive of citizen-led projects. He has facilitated cooperative relationships between town departments and Warren citizens. In numerous meetings I have heard our town manager share a belief that Warren will benefit from utilizing its greatest resource — committed, active, engaged citizens — in collaboration with town talents and resources. Not only has Mr. Reitsma been supportive in his capacity as town manager, but he has dedicated many hours rolling up his sleeves and painting, sweeping, weeding, greeting and prepping meals as a volunteer through Volunteer Warren this year.
Warren impresses me daily with the overwhelming majority of citizens and employees who are thoughtful and engaged in making our town a better place. I have greatly enjoyed my working relationship with our town manager; town planner; Parks & Recreation director; Department of Public Works director, foreman, clerk, and crew to name a few. I have been fortunate enough to volunteer alongside many of these people as well and their dedication to our little town by the sea is so impressive. Not only are many of our town’s employees committing their careers to Warren but they are often found volunteering a great amount of their personal time as well.
Mr. Reitsma's, our town employees’, and our elected officials’ high level of dedication to their work and to Warren make me hopeful that a resolution can be met and Warren will be able to continue to progress, together.
