West Bay Residential Services, which serves 137 individuals, held its second annual Strides for Independence Walkathon Sunday at Goddard Park. The 1K/5K walkathon saw more than 400 people turn out to raise funds to purchase assistive technology and adaptive equipment for people to gain greater access to community resources and employment opportunities. Last year, the event raised $40,000, and West Bay director Gloria Quinn was hopeful this year’s walk would bring in $50,000.
