Metacom Avenue restaurants close

EastBayRI.com ·

There are two fewer restaurant option in Warren, with the recent closure of two restaurants.

McBlarney’s County Tap and Pink Pig BBQ, which share a building at 632 Metacom Ave., are both out of business. Pink Pig, which bought out the former Preppy Pig restaurant on the site and changed the name, closed just before Thanksgiving. Owner Matt Smith said Thursday that it was his hope to re-open in the Spring, but issues with the landlord prevented that, he said. There are no plans to re-open, he added, though Pink Pig has another location in the West Bay.

Nobody from McBlarney’s could be reached for comment, but the restaurant’s owners opted not to renew their liquor license, which expires at midnight Thursday, when it came up for renewal at the November Warren Town Council meeting. McBlarney’s website has been taken down, the estiblishment is listed as "closed" online, and there was no answer at the restaurant’s phone.
