New pump station installed on Central Ave.

Johnston Sun Rise ·

The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) announced progress on the new pump station and waterline installation on Central Avenue. All that remains is the decommissioning of the old water line and pump station and the final paving at the intersection on Central Avenue and Reservoir Avenue.

Waterline decommissioning took place this week and paving will be in early December, depending on weather. These tasks require the roadway to be limited to a single lane. Police details will be in place to control traffic. Residents may experience some delays during this timeframe. The contractor will be working between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. There may be some days where crews need to work until later in the day to complete the day’s task. Should the work continue beyond the 4 p.m. timeframe, the construction contractor, with the assistance of the local police and safety personnel, will ensure the roadway has at least one-way traffic to allow passage through the area.  Crews will make every effort to be completed no later than 4:00 p.m.

RIRRC and their contractor, Boyle and Fogarty Construction Co., Inc., thank the residents, businesses and the town for being understanding and cooperative during this project.
