Oaklawn walking the walk

Someone at Oak Lawn Elementary must have a connection with Mother Nature, and was able to get a sunny, breezy and cool day for their first fundraising event of the year on Friday, Sept. 30.

Principal Jim Zanfinni was pleased with the event.

“We got lucky with the weather, and the PTG has worked hard to make sure this event went well,” he said.

The entire student body (205 students) participated in the walk and the additional exercise/activity stations. Which included, hula-hoops, parachutes, tug of war and jump rope. All students received prizes from the PTG for participating such as; bracelets, stickers, tattoos, pencils and stampers.

The 2017 walk a thon was amazing, said PTG President, Ruthanne Farina.

“Oaklawn is very blessed with the families and students we have. We raised $3,924. The top three money raisers were treated to Confreda corn mazes passes,” she said.

The money raised will be used to enrich the school throughout year.
