Oct. 28 Monsterdash to help 3-year-old battling cancer

Warwick Beacon ·

When a family goes through the kind of battle the McLarnons are currently facing, every bit of support can go a long way.

Three-year old Davis McLarnon, the son of Amanda and Barry McLarnon of Warwick, is battling medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor found primarily in children.

Having already had to deal with plenty of medical and travel expenses to get Davis’ tumor removed and have him go through chemotherapy, the family will continue to face the battle with his cancer for years to come, and all the struggles that come with it.

Kerri Silva, who also resides in Warwick and is one of a few Monster Dash volunteers, understands the battle the family is up against, and has helped organize the event, as well as a GoFundMe donation page, to raise money for Davis. Another volunteer is a good friend of the McLarnon family, which is how Silva was able to connect with them.

“This is something where it’s going to be a few years of traveling and treatments for the family. It’s just about raising as much as we can and raising as much awareness as well to help the family out,” said Silva.

So, Davis’ Monsterdash was created. The event will be held at Goddard Park on October 28 and will center on a 5K race for adults as well as a 1K race for children. There is a $35 registration for adults and $10 for kids, with all proceeds going to the McLarnon family.

In addition to the running races, there will be raffle tickets for sale with prizes up for grabs.

A DJ will also be there, playing music all throughout the event, and game stations will be set up for children.

The event aims to be a fun-filled affair at Goddard Park, while, most importantly, raising money and awareness for Davis McLarnon and his cancerous brain tumor.

Silva asks those unable to attend the dash to help the McLarnon family by donating to their GoFundMe page, which has already raised over $40,000 for the family and can be found through davismonsterdash.com.
