One of 33 in country, Confreda's Deli is Market of Distinction

Warwick Beacon ·

Sometimes it takes going the distance to find some of the best.

Evidently Boar’s Head Corporate offices have discovered that for on Friday they will honor Confreda's Farm Market and Deli as one of the most notable independent delis in the country. Confreda’s will be honored during a Market of Distinction event at the Farm Market, located at 2150 Scituate Avenue, Hope from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members from Boar’s Head Corporate will be there to give the award at 12 p.m.

The event will include deli product demos, raffle prizes, free samples and giveaway items, complimentary Boar’s Head Products such as their New Mint Chocolate Hummus and Pouch Salami.

So how did Confreda’s that got its start and continues to have a farming presence in Warwick get to be the 33rd deli to be nationally recognized?

First, explains Boar’s Head distributor Scott Nicchia, Confreda’s was nominated for the award. Features listed in the nomination included development of the deli since it was added to the array of produce sold at the farm about ten years ago. In the last year alone, Confreda’s sale of Boar’s Head meats and cheeses increased 70 percent. The nomination was followed up by five visits from corporate offices before Confreda’s selection for the award.

According to Boar’s Head, the Market of Distinction status is awarded to independent retailers that promote the highest standards of quality and exceptional customer service. An honored Boar’s Head Market of Distinction is also a reflection of the community and operates as a good community neighbor.

Vincent J. Confreda credits his son, Jonathan and Brittany Rowe, who manage the deli with the award. He said their devotion to providing good service and a wide selection to customers has paid off.

“When you have a partner like this there’s no reason to stop…let’s keep going,” Nicchia said Tuesday.

That was music to Vinnie Confreda.

“How about a Boar’s Head gazebo?” he said.

Nicchia was speechless.

“That’s the way I deal,” Confreda said with a laugh.

During the event, Confreda’s will also be sampling their homemade gourmet preserves and butters as well as homemade bread, pies and other prepared foods and gourmet products. Confreda’s has a kitchen on the premises.

Customers who use their “Fruitful Reward Card” between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. will receive bonuses during their visit.

The Market of Distinction program was developed in 2001 as a way to recognize those independent delis that mirror these ideals and go above and beyond to deliver best in class customer service, exceptional product quality and knowledge, the highest standards for food safety, and act as a good community neighbor.

Nicchia said of approximately 200 Rhode Island delis that sell Boar’s Head products there is only one other with a Market of Distinction. To get there plan on driving to Newport.
