Pawtucket's Little Bavaria

Providence Monthly Magazine ·

If your definition of Oktoberfest is drinking a bunch of middling American beers in your local bar, it’s time for you to head to Pawtucket for a real taste of how they do it in Germany. Around these parts, Oktoberfest doesn’t get more authentic than when it’s done by The German American Cultural Society of Rhode Island on October 1. In addition to their outdoor biergarten, the Pawtucket club will have music by The Bavarian Brothers Band and Alpenblumen Musikanten, dance lessons from SGTV Alpenblumen Schuhplattlers and all the wurst you can handle. Every Friday, they open up their downstairs Ratskeller for German music and food.
