Photo contest captures one day in Warren

Judging will be this Thursday during Art Night

More than 30 photographers spread out across Warren last month, capturing the town in all its varied glory — from bucolic Touisset to the town beach, to its eclectic merchants and diverse population. This Thursday, Warren gets to choose whose is the best.

The “Day in the Life of Warren” photography contest isn’t the first here; the Warren Preservation Society ran several others years ago before deciding to re-establish it this year. Kristin MacDonald, who headed the contest for the preservation society, said the object was to capture images of everyday life in town. The photographers delivered, taking photos as diverse as Warren itself. During Bristol Warren Arts Night this Thursday, July 27, visitors will be asked to vote on their favorite photos. Awards will be given out in three categories — Best in Show, Best in Show (youth-shot) and people’s choice. There will also be six honorable mentions awarded. The photographs are on display at the 30 Cutler Gallery, and viewing/judging will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
