A Barrington Middle School official contacted police on Thursday, Nov. 30, regarding a suspicious piece of candy.

A student had gone to the office with the candy — he had gotten it during Halloween and when he opened it at the school recently, noticed it was covered in white powder. The school official gave the candy to a police officer; it will be brought to the Rhode Island Department of Health to be tested.

While the police officer was at the school, the vice principal told the officer she had recently confiscated a vaping device from a student. She gave the device to the officer; the student had been suspended.
