TURNED HERSELF IN

On May 7 around 9:46 p.m., Michelle A. Leonardo, 37, of 346 Union Ave., first floor in Providence, responded into Johnston Police Department headquarters to turn herself in on an active Third District Court warrant that was issued on Nov. 15, 2016. The warrant stemmed from a driving with a suspended license charge from the department. Leonardo was taken into custody, processed, and held pending arraignment.

While monitoring traffic in the area of 2100 Hartford Ave. on May 6 at approximately 1:19 a.m., Officer Andrew Broccoli observed a vehicle traveling west at a high rate of speed. Using a laser, the officer determined that he car was traveling 58 miles per hour in a posted 35-mile-per-hour zone.

After conducting a traffic stop, the driver was identified as Jonathan Castelo Lince, 37, of 60 Wealth Ave., Apt. 1 in Providence. Background checks revealed that Castelo Lince two active Superior Court warrants. He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and also issued a summons for speeding. Castelo Lince was then transported and turned over to the custody of correctional officers at the ACI Men’s Intake.

NO LICENSE

On May 8 around 9:49 p.m., Officer Michael Protano observed a green Audi A6 travelling west on Greenville Avenue which failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Greenville and Traver Avenues.

A traffic stop was initiated at Killingly and Waveland Streets, and the operator was identified as Michael Marrapese, 38, of 32 Bayview Avenue in Cranston. A check through the DMV and Registry files revealed that Marrapese did not have a RI driver’s license and that the registration belonged to a 1993 Dodge Dakota, which expired in October 2016.

Marrapese was taken into custody without incident and transported to headquarters due to having two previous driving without license convictions. He was processed and later released with a Third District Court summons to appear for driving without a license, third offense.

FAILURE TO APPEAR

Sergeant Stephen Altomari conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of 2100 Hartford Ave. on May 9 around 10:30 a.m. for a registration check. During the stop, the passenger, Michael Mastrostefano, 44, of 15 Carpenter St. in Providence, was found to have an active Superior Court bench warrant stemming from a possession of a schedule I-V drug and failing to appear.

Patrolmen Merrick Cook and Remy Mendez placed Mastrostefano into custody without incident and transported to headquarters where he was processed. Later that day he was transported to Superior Court. The driver was issued a warning after producing registry paperwork.

ASSAULT

Joseph Perez, 24, of 244 Greenwood St. in Cranston, was arrested on May 7 at approximately 11:30 a.m. for simple assault/battery and disorderly conduct.

According to the report, Sergeant Megan Boulet and Patrolmen Remy Mendez and Merrick Cook responded to an address (redacted) for a report of an assault. Upon arrival they spoke with the complainant, who stated he was punched in the face by his neighbor’s boyfriend.

The victim explained that he was outside his residence doing yard work when he yelled across to his neighbor for littering on their street, who then verbally confronted him. Perez then walked over, exchanged words, then punched the man on the left side of his face. At that point, the victim called police.

Perez spoke with the officers regarding the incident, and stated that he did not punch the man but did slap him on the face. He was then taken into custody and charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Perez was later arraigned before Justice of the Peace Thomas O’Brien and released on $1,000 personal recognizance with a Third District Court summons.

STOLEN VEHICLE

While entering the parking lot of the Killingly Street Personal Touch car wash on May 7 around 11 a.m., Lieutenant Joseph Salvadore observed a man standing near a blue sedan. After the suspect saw the police cruiser, he was observed quickly moving behind the trunk of the vehicle, covering the rear registration plate making it difficult for the officer to view.

The report indicates that Lt. Salvadore found this behavior strange, and circled the lot to view the front license plate. A check revealed that the license plate had been entered by the RI Airport Police as stolen from the Enterprise Rental Car company in Warwick for failing to be returned.

Additional patrolmen were brought to the scene, and as the vehicle was leaving the parking lot a traffic stop was made. The driver, identified as Cheyenne Dailey, 30, of 126 Dodge St., Apt. 104 in Providence, was found to have an active Sixth District Court bench warrant for failure to appear-bail violation.

Dailey was taken into custody without incident and transported to police headquarters. She was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Thomas O’Brien and remanded to the Women’s Intake Center at the ACI for being a probation and bail violator relating to the department’s charge for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

A passenger, Sharniece Brotherns, 29, of 48 Dartmouth Ave. in Providence, was found to have an active Superior Court full bench warrant stemming from a manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to distribute charge from the Rhode Island State Police. She was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where she was processed and held pending arraignment.
