SHOPLIFTING

On November 16 at approximately 5:45 p.m. Officer Anthony D’Abrosca was dispatched to the Greenwich Avenue Stop & Shop for a report of a shoplifting with a male suspect in custody.

At the scene the officer met with an asset protection associate who explained that he observed a male subject, later identified as Michael Mowry Jr., 24, of 22 Douglas Street in West Warwick, select numerous items and conceal them in reusable bags. Mowry reportedly then passed all points of sale without paying for the concealed merchandise and exited the store. He was then stopped by security and brought back into the store, where 75 items valued at $315.90 was recovered.

Mowry was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting and released with a court summons.

Officer Anthony D’Abrosca was dispatched to the Bald Hill Road Macy’s on November 17 at approximately 6:06 p.m. for a report of a shoplifting with a woman in custody.

Upon arrival the officer met with the reporting party who works for Macy’s loss prevention. He explained that he observed two female subjects, and one was carrying a large pink duffle bag. He observed the woman, later identified as Aaryanmonet Julius, 19, of 15 Nebraska Street in Providence, enter the men’s department where she selected socks and placed them in the bag.

She then went to the proceeded to the women’s shoes department, where she reportedly selected a pair of Ugg boots, took off her shoes, and wore the Ugg boots. Julius then allegedly passed all points of sale without paying and exited the store. She was then confronted outside the store and brought back to the asset protection office. There, a total of $457.48 was recovered.

Julius was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where she was processed. She was charged with shoplifting and given a no trespass order from the store. She was later released with a court summons.

At approximately 7:17 p.m. on November 17, Officer Steven Moretti was dispatched to the J.C Penney at Warwick Mall for a report of a shoplifting where an adult woman and a minor were in custody.

At the scene the officer reported to the loss prevention office where he met with the reporting party. The adult suspect was then identified as Thalia Gonzalez, 18, of 51 High View Drive in Cranston.

According to store personnel, Gonzalez along with the minor were observed carrying bags in the men’s department acting suspicious. There, the pair selected various items and proceeded to the fitting room with them. They then exited the store with the items allegedly concealed on their person. They were confronted outside of the store and brought back inside, where a total of $138 worth of merchandise was recovered.

Gonzalez was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. She was released with a court summons for shoplifting.

Officer William Holz along with other officers were dispatched to the Macy’s department store at Warwick Mall on November 14 at approximately 2:53 p.m. for a report of a shoplifting in progress. Dispatched provided a description of the male suspect, who had allegedly taken male fragrances before he exited the store without paying for the merchandise. The suspect was last seen walking towards West Natick Road.

Officers patrolled the area, but were unable to immediately find the suspect. They then responded to the store to take a report to document the incident. While passing the Food Court, Officer Holz saw a person of interest who matched the suspect’s description. As he passed the man, he reported that the suspect went from walking calmly to traveling at a brisk pace.

According to the report, Warwick Mall security then advised the officers that their surveillance office observed the man enter a public restroom. Officers responded and found the suspect with a large tan backpack. The man, later identified as Randall Rua, 31, of 116 Canna Street in Warwick, had boxes of cologne in the bag. Store security also positively identified Rua as the suspect they had observed in the store. A total of $440 worth of merchandise was recovered from his possession.

Rua was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was charged with felony shoplifting based on his previous record. He was then held for arraignment.

LARCENY

Officer Robert Canis-Langlais was dispatched to a Dory Road residence on November 17 at approximately 8:30 a.m. for a larceny report. At the scene he met with a resident, who stated that his Troy Built snowblower, valued at approximately $800, was stolen from his front porch sometime during the overnight hours. He said the snowblower was covered with black plastic, and he felt that someone must have come up close to the house to notice it was there. There are no suspects or witnesses.
