On Feb. 8 at approximately 12:13 a.m., Officer Michael T. Isherwood reports being at the intersection of Airport Road and Warwick Avenue when he observed a light-colored SUV traveling east on Airport Road.

The vehicle is said to have turned right onto Warwick Avenue, through a red traffic signal, without coming to a complete stop. The vehicle reached speeds of more than 50 mph and drifted between lanes while traveling south on Warwick Avenue, according to Isherwood. The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Warwick and Lindy avenues.

The operator is said to have told Isherwood he was traveling home from a bar on Warwick Avenue. According to the officer’s report, a “strong odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages” emanated from the operator’s breath. The officer also states that the operator’s speech was “heavily slurred” and that his eyes were “extremely watery and bloodshot.” The operator is said to have acknowledged consuming alcohol earlier in the evening.

The operator is said to have agreed to undergo roadside field sobriety testing, which he reportedly failed.

Corey R. Cote, 49, 96 Burgoyne Drive, Warwick, was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to Warwick Police headquarters. He is said to have consented to a chemical breath test, which reportedly showed a blood alcohol content significantly above the legal limit.

Cote was issued a summons to appear in Third Division District Court on a charge of driving under the influence. He was additionally cited for failure to obey traffic control devices and laned roadway violations.

Dispatch indicated that a security camera had alerted the reporting party to motion in her front driveway. Video taken by the camera is said to have shown a man carrying a backpack attempting to enter the reporting party’s vehicle.

The reporting party told police that her vehicle had previously been broken into on the morning of Feb. 11, and that security video showed what appeared to be the same man in that incident. She also said the same man is also believed to have attempted to enter vehicles parked at neighboring properties.

Police searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him. *** On Feb. 16 at approximately 7:43 a.m., Detective Sokphannareth Chea reported responding to the Extended Stay America location at 268 Metro Center Blvd. for a report of larceny from a motor vehicle.

Several items were missing, he said, including an Eclipse amplifier, a Kenwood amplifier and a JL Audio amplified. All are valued at $200.

During the investigation, Shea reports observing another vehicle – a white 2007 Dodge Ram – in the same parking lot with its right rear window smashed. The detective made contact with the vehicle’s owner, who responded to the vehicle and indicated several items were missing.

The missing items include a camouflage backpack valued at $100, a pair of pants valued at $25, a set of shoe chains valued at $25, a neck warmer valued at $25 and other miscellaneous items with a combined value of $75.

COUNTERFEIT BILL
